This album brings together all the fantastic ingredients that made this summers Soul Survivor the biggest yet. You can find the hugely anointed Tim Hughes leading thousands into a place of humble and God-glorifying worship. “Almighty God” is a fantastic song that fully focuses on the glory and sovereignty of God which during the conference, brought us into a place where everyone’s eyes were fixed on the King, which sadly not all worship songs do nowadays. Tim also contributes a truly beautiful song called “Everything” which is certainly a more personal song, yet the lyrics have been written in a way that still keeps Jesus as the focus instead of how we feel.
But this album has many more lead worshippers contributing, including Delirious?, Hillsongs United, and Mark Beswick! This brings a fresh feel to each song as you listen to it, yet keeps the flow of the album going so it doesn’t just sound like a compilation CD.
Hillsongs United bring a new approach to worship songs, appealing mostly to the younger worshippers, or those who prefer a bit more of a rock feel to their worship songs. And while we are talking about a rockier worship, who better is there than Delirious? to lead us? “Now is the Time” is a rock song to worship God to, which proved to be very popular with those at the conference.
Martyn Layzell brings a more mature approach to worship, which can be found on the bonus CD which brings a taste of what the things were like at Momentum, which let me tell you, was AMAZING! There are 5 brilliant tracks with “I stand in awe” and “O praise him” really standing out as songs which strike a chord with your soul.
And to finish this review, I look to the last song on the Soul Survivor part of the Album, “God of Justice” another solid song written by Tim Hughes. The words are challenging, they are hard to sing without really meaning it, and frankly more songs should be like this in my opinion. I would quote a line from it, but I simply can’t. I would have to write out the whole song!
What you will have to do is buy this album, which is a bargain considering the bonus CD included, and be challenged and inspired yourself!
